about

The fourth release of exciting original music from the Terry Gordon Quintet takes the listener on a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns through a program as stylistically varied as it is unified by the group's approach and shared history as a working unit. The set features compositions by Terry Gordon ("Looking In", "Tomorrow Calling", "Concatenated Cogency", "Grace", "Be Right Back", and "Blues For Tanner"), Eric Walentowicz ("The Sound"), Bill Lawrence ("Analogue"), and Matthew Maguire ("I Remember Patti"). Several of these tracks are dedicated to friends, influences, and those who have left us too soon: "Grace" is dedicated to a couple of students who were late to a lesson one day, "The Sound", as the title suggests, is a homage to tenor sax great Stan Getz, "I Remember Patti" is dedicated to the memory of a friend, and "Blues For Tanner" is for a young man taken far too young by leukemia, but rather than being somber, the tune is an energetic celebration of life.

“a deft blend of straight-ahead jazz with blues, ballads, samba and
funk.”
Nippertown.com

“This group’s strengths are many, from the proven writing skills of
Gordon and
saxophonist Eric Walentowicz, to the always-fiery approach of
guitarist Michael-Louis Smith.”
